Book Launch: Time and Tide: The Vanishing Culture of the North Carolina Coast
June 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Join Tim Hatcher, author of Time and Tide: The Vanishing Culture of the North Carolina Coast, for a presentation and Q&A about the beautiful, ever-changing coast of North Carolina and its rich past and present culture.
Tim lives on a North Carolina beach that he loves and hopes will stay the same forever, unlike the demise of commercial fishing or open access to the shore. The many controversies and conflicts that have plagued the state’s coast — both in the past and current — fueled his desire to examine and write about what he discovered. Some, like the plight of the piping plover bird on the Outer Banks, or the rise and fall of all-Black resorts of Seabreeze and Freeman Beach in the 1950s, present a new and different way to define and value the unique culture of the North Carolina coast.
Tim lives on the southern Outer Banks of the North Carolina coast with several beach cats. He has traveled the world as a quality inspector, taught in the field of human resources at NC State University, and was the editor of Human Resource Development Quarterly. He is an avid saltwater angler and a semi-professional, part-time musician.
